Scrapbook Layouts With Simply Scrappin' Kits

I have been working to catch up my scrapbooks.  There are gaps.

...like Dec. 2001 to Jan. 2003

 

Why?  I was deluged by photos when my third child was born and dealt with them the best way any mom of 3 can. 

 

 By putting them all in a box. 

 

     

Getting out all the photos and organizing them and choosing which ones to use.

 

That's the hard part.

 

The easy and fun part is doing the layouts.  Mainly because I use Stampin' Up!s Simply Scrappin' kits.  I love them for lots of reasons but mainly for how they speed up my pages.

 

Shown here is a retired Christmas Simply Scrappin' kit, but there is one in the catalog right now called Christmas Jingle.  It's very similar and probably better!  Trust me, Stampin' Up! improves everything.

 

Oh, and the kits are only $19.95.  With some additional cardstock you can get a whole lot of scrapbook layouts out of one kit.  Scientifically proven!  ; )  Plus you can use them for cards and other projects as well.

Unscripted Card With SU Tag Punch

Here's a card I made quick today using the Unscripted Sketches sketch #45.  When I saw the sketch I planned to make a card for a friend who is moving away.  However, I had to leave for a busy day and the "immediate card need" changed.

My oldest had to be at the school today at 5:45 am!!  The league championship tournament was today--he got 3rd!  It was a good but hard season and we celebrated with fried chicken and chocolate cake (and NO salad!) quick before heading off to the Pinewood Derby.  And our middle child got 6th place (and a trophy) out of 60+.  Throw in an afternoon tea party/birthday party for the youngest and we have a day full of headache memories!

I had to leave before the tournament was over (an hour away) in order to get to the tea party so while the party was going on I had time to put together this card with a picture I took this morning!

 

Here are the supplies I used:

cardstock:  sahara sand, bravo burgundy, summer sun

ink: craft white, white gel pen, bravo burgundy stampin' write marker and pad

tools and accessories:  small tag punch, corner rounder punch, gold elastic cord

stamp sets:  Just Jawing, D is for Dog

SU Sweet Pea Stitched Felt Quick Project and Haitian Relief

 

 

While going through some old boxes of pictures and momentos saved for scrapbooks I found this inspirational message that was given to me in college.  Yes, there is at least 1 typo and the printing is not the quality we have today but I kept it as-is.  Long ago I robbed the frame it used to be in!  But I still love the message and decided to hang it on the bulletin board above my stamping desk.  

But it was too plain so I grabbed my Sweet Pea Stitched felt and a few minutes later I was finished! (pic at top)

 

 

The Sweet Pea stitched felt pieces look great when added to a card or project...

 ...but start layering them up and oooh la la!

 

And after hearing about the terrible earthquake in Chile along with a few other natural disasters you might be wondering about Stampin' Up!s campaign for helping in Haiti.  The results have just been released!

 

Haitian Disaster Relief Results

During the month of Feb and March Stampin' Up! volunteered to donate $2 for every I{Heart}Hearts stamp set purchased to the Red Cross' Haiti Relief and Development Fund.  Worldwide, 13,587 of these stamp sets were purchased!  That's over $27,000 donated to people who desperately need our help.  This shows, once again, that our stamping community is all about making a difference in the lives of others.

Top 5 Things I Love About Being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

It's good to be thankful.  And taking the time to list items you are thankful for makes it even easier!  And, being a list person, then I like to list the reasons WHY I am thankful for that particular thing.

Today I will share with you the Top 5 things (in no particular order) I listed under being thankful I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.

 

• being creative and getting to make things is a main part of my job

• being able to schedule my work around my family's schedule

Just A Touch Of Picnic Parade Stamp Set And Sweet Pea Stitched Felt

This simple card design is far from plain!  Creating a focal point with the sentiment keeps the card from getting too busy when working with a busy background paper. 

• card base is sahara sand cut 8-1/2" x 5-1/2"
• Sending Love specialty designer series paper is fun to use for the front of a card--love that the glitter is already on there!

(these colors are more lifelike on my computer)

 

• sentiment from Picnic Parade stamp set is stamped in regal rose on whisper white cardstock, punched out with the Large Oval Punch
• a kraft Scallop Oval Punch shape fits right behind
• leaves were cut with the Leaflet Sizzlet and the Big Shot, then brushed lightly with the 2-way glue pen and dusted with green cosmo glitter
• as a finishing touch 2 small flower rosettes from Sweet Pea Stitched Felt are added

 

Best part about the card?  Can be used for a lot of different reason with that sentiment!

Medallion Background Stamp Makes a Striking Card

 

 

This simple card is bright and oh-so-spring-like. 

 

One of my favorite color combinations is Cameo Coral and Gable Green.  I have not used either color for a long time, but was inspired to get them out after watching someone arrange a dozen coral and lime green roses.  It was a stunning arrangement which made me run home and get out those stamp pads! 

 

At 5-1/4" square this card fits perfectly into Stampin' Up!s Medium Square Envelopes (107289).  To get that center area to stand out, the Medallion Background Stamp is inked in cameo coral then stamped on whisper white and punched out with the 1-3/4" circle punch.  After using a clear rhinestone brad to attach a 1/2" circle punched from gable green, the whole piece is attached with Stampin' dimensionals.

Leprechaun Card For Cards of the Month Club

 

 This fun card idea for St. Patrick's Day is one of the cards we'll be making today at Cards of the Month Club.  You can make them at home by ordering a kit (until March 10, 2010 while supplies last).

 

Doesn't that little guy look ornery?  You can make the leprechaun with a few punched/die cut shapes.

 

• hat and shirt are from one tag cut with the Stampin' Up! matchbox die and the big shot
• hair and beard are a scallop circle
• face is a 1-1/4" circle with eyes punched by the crop-o-dile large hole punch

D Is For Dog Stamp Set Is A Must-Have
